Hope this is another approachable introduction to complexdoku, this time using a complex version of bellal's Arithmetic Symbols.
Dedicated to ThePedallingPianist et. al.
- This puzzle consists of two identically clued grids, one for the Real part and one for the Imaginary part.
- Normal 6x6 sudoku rules apply on each grid.
- Complexdoku:
Both grids are considered as a single grid of complex numbers: A pair of corresponding cells in both grids is considered as a single complex number A+Bi where A is the digit in the real grid and B is the digit in the imaginary grid.
-
Arithmetic symbols: the complex number in a cell containing a symbol is the result of performing that operation on all of the adjacent complex numbers pointed to by the symbol.
Specifically the complex number in a cell with a:
- + (in blue) is the sum of up to 4 orthogonally adjacent complex numbers,
- - (in yellow) is the difference of the adjacent complex numbers to the E and W in some order,
- × (in green) is the product of up to 4 diagonally adjacent complex numbers,
- / (in red) is the quotient of the adjacent complex numbers to the NE and SW in some order.
Note: The product of two complex numbers is
(A+Bi)(C+Di) = (AC-BD)+(AD+BC)i.
