A while ago it was Nell Gwyn's birthday! 🥳
And for the ocassion I got together with MathGuy_12 to make a balanced version of our complexdoku puzzle. Hope you like it!
- This puzzle consists of two identically clued grids, one for the Real part and one for the Imaginary part.
-
Balanced Quattroquadri:
On each grid place one digit from -4 to 4 in each cell so they don't repeat in any row, column or 3x3 box.
-
Anti-Pair:
Cells in the same position between grids may not have the same digit.
- Complexdoku:
Both grids are considered as a single grid of complex numbers: A pair of corresponding cells in both grids is considered as a single complex number A+Bi where A is the digit in the real grid and B is the digit in the imaginary grid.
-
Ambiguous Complex Product Dots:
The complex product of all cells touching a red star is equal to either 0+Ai or A+0i where A is the number on the dot. (The 40 clue only touches three cells.)
Note: The product of two complex numbers is
(A+Bi)(C+Di) = (AC-BD)+(AD+BC)i,
and the forms that yield a pure number are
C(A+Bi)(B+Ai) = 0 + C(A²+B²)i
and
C(A+Bi)(A-Bi) = C(A²+B²) + 0i
