C-C-C-C-Cheese Time

(Published on 3. May 2026, 09:00 by aqjhs)

I made this puzzle for Black_Doom's segment on the Sudoku Twitch Train 2026.

  • Divide the grid into nine orthogonally connected regions and place the digits 1 to 9 once each in every row, column and region.
  • Counting Circle Cave Clue Cheeses:
    • A digit on a cheese round counts the number of cells seen in its row and column, including itself, where region borders block sight.
    • Also, a digit on a cheese round indicates how many times that digit appears on cheese rounds.
  • Skyscraper Sweeper Slices:
    • The symbols 🧀 🫕 🍕 represent three different digits from 1-9.
    • Outside clues indicate the number of cells seen in the direction of the clue from the grid edge until the first internal region border.
    • Also, outside clues are skyscraper clues: its value is equal to the number of seen digits in the direction of the clue, where digits block any lower digits from being seen.
  • Cells joined by a tomato (x) have digits that sum to 10 and belong in the same region.
  • Cells joined by a black olive dot have digits in 1:2 ratio and belong to different regions.

The production of Roquefort cheese can be traced back over a thousand years to the Middle Ages. Legend has it that a young shepherd, seeking refuge from a storm, left his meal of bread and cheese in a cave. When he returned weeks later, he discovered that the bread had turned moldy, but the cheese inside was deliciously transformed.
