Foggy Archipealago

(Eingestellt am 13. September 2025, 15:44 Uhr von SamuPiano)

For Scojo's second annual impostor prompt, I decided to make one of the most SamuPiano puzzles I've ever made. I love this puzzle, and it combines many of my favorite steps and deductions from some of my previous puzzles in this vein! I hope you enjoy it!

The person who attempted to impersonate me was DubiousMobius. He did a remarkable job impersonating me, with his puzzle, Foggy Archipealago. As you may notice, his puzzle title and ruleset were an amazing match of mine. It was truly brilliant impostor work. Despite this, I came out victorious and retained my identity. Very well played to him!

Without further ado, here are the rules:

RULES:

SUDOKU: Normal sudoku rules apply.
FOG (OLD-SCHOOL): The grid is partially covered in fog. Placing correct digits will clear the fog from the surrounding area.
NURIKABE: Shade all cells either blue (water) or orange (land) such that all water cells are orthogonally connected and form no 2x2 areas. Each area of orthogonally connected orange cells is called an island.
LINES: All lines move orthogonally and end in circles on either end. Lines do not cross, branch, or share cells.
CIRCLES (SHADING): Circles may be contained in either water or land cells. If a circle is in a water cell, its digit is equal to the number of water cells in the (up to) 3x3 area around the clue, including itself. If a circle is in a land cell, its digit is equal to the number of cells in its island. All islands contain exactly one circle.
CIRCLES (COUNT): The digit in a circled cell with a line attached also gives the number of cells of the same shading as the circled cell along the line, including the endpoints.
SPLIT PEAS: Digits along a line must sum to a two-digit number, where the 'tens' digit is in one circle and the 'ones' digit is in the other.
XV (PARTIAL): Cells separated by an X sum to 10. Not all X are given.

And, my impersonation from this year:
Triumvirate

Lösungscode: Contents of the water cells in row 8.

I usually prefer yin-yang over nurikabe, but this is one of my favorite all time puzzles!

Let me pick my jaw up off the floor so I can exclaim how incredible this puzzle is! It's full of brilliant and surprising deductions, but never becomes overly difficult. I had a lovely time solving it.

That was an incredible round. Hats off to both of you. Needless to say, I enjoy a good coloring-on-top-of-fog puzzle :)

What a delight the whole way through! It was a great pleasure set a puzzle walking in your shoes, and a treat to see how the real Samu approaches a nearly identical ruleset. Hat's off!
