The Hobbit Puzzle Pack
VI : Out of the Frying-Pan...
Image with kind permission from Ted Nasmith
"What shall we do, what shall we do!" Bilbo cried. "Escaping goblins to be caught by wolves!" he said. "Up the trees quick!" cried Gandalf; and they ran to the trees at the edge of the glade, hunting for those that had branches fairly low, or were slender enough to swarm up.
Normal sudoku rules apply.
Begin by entering the Column, Row, and Digit of the discovered Magic Ring from the previous puzzle.
Bilbo, Gandalf and the dwarves climbed the trees marked with circles. A digit in a circle indicates how many circles contain that digit.
Wolf cells (marked with "W") contain the same digit.
Shade the forest (grid) using two colours such that each colour forms an orthogonally connected region, and no 2x2 area is a single colour.
Digits in Tree cells indicate how many cells of the same colour are seen orthogonally from that position, including itself. The other colour blocks vision.

shade the forest using the 2 colours green and brown.
on second thought, use light grey and yellow, the 2 palest colours in the standard grid. otherwise, you will be unable to see the trees on account of the forest.
hint: in the fellowship at that time, there are 4 hobbits, 3 humans (at least by appearance), and 2 non-humans.

The Hobbit pre-dates the Fellowship of the Ring by 61 years. The party (at the time this puzzle is set) consisted of 1 hobbit, 13 dwarves, and 1 wizard.
