From Nothing, Something

  • Normal Sudoku rules apply.
  • The first one or two digits of every row (read as a 1- or 2-digit number) form a battlefield clue for that row.
  • The first digit of every column is a pole position clue for that column.
  • The top left cell is a skyscraper clue for its diagonal (top left to bottom right).
  • The bottom right cell is a skyscraper clue for its diagonal (bottom right to top left).
  • The top right cell is even.

Clue cells still count as part of the row/column/diagonal being clued.

Battlefield: Armies extend X cells from the left side of the grid, and Y cells from the right, where X is the first digit in the row, and Y is the last. A battlefield clue indicates the sum of cells in the overlap, or the sum of the cells between the groups if they do not overlap (see also 0003JN).
Pole Position: The first digit in the column indicates which row contains the 1 in that column (see also 0003XF).
Skyscraper: Every digit inside the grid represents a building of that height. A skyscraper clue indicates the number of buildings visible from that direction. Buildings are obscured by taller buildings and same-size buildings.

The following example shows a 6x6 grid that obeys all of the rules, but the battlefield and pole position rules only for two of the rows/columns each:

It is remarkable that this works out like it does, and with a logical solution path that's both entertaining and rewarding. I would definitely rate it on the hard side though. There is a lot to keep track of here.
