Rules: Normal sudoku rules apply. Digits along thermometers increase from the bulb end.
Variant: The thermos in the grid are maximal thermos. This means two things:
(1) the digit in the bulb equals the length of the thermo
(2) the tip of the thermo cannot be extended by a king's move to a non-thermo cell to create a larger thermo.
For example, if r7c4 = 8, then r7c3, r6c4, r6c5, r7c5, r8c5 all cannot equal 9.

Very cool variant, loved the genuine logic and the resulting sudoku deductions too.

Trotz des Beispiels begreife ich Regel 2 nicht, soll das heissen, dass eine nicht Thermo-Zelle, die einen Königszug entfernt ist, nicht grösser sein darf?

Richtig. und die Regel gilt nur für die Spitze der Thermos.
