flash in the extancy

I made this puzzle following Scojo's prompt to use lot clues in a chaos construction puzzle.

  • Divide the grid into nine orthogonally connected regions and place the digits 1 to 9 once each in every row, column and region.
  • Region Lots:
    • A digit on a diamond counts the number of cells in the (up to) 3x3 area centered at the cell that are in its own region, including itself.
    • Also, a digit on a diamond indicates how many times that digit appears on diamonds.
  • Cells joined by a white dot have consecutive digits and belong to the same region.
  • Cells joined by a green dot have digits with a difference of at least 5.

Another great CC puzzle, we've been having lots of good ones lately! Depending on familiarity with CC, it might still be 3.5-4 stars, but I found it quite smooth and interesting throughout the solve.

For the diamond clues: when counting orthogonally or diagonally adjacent cells in its own region, you specify "up to 9" in a parenthetical. But the way I would normally define "adjacency", there are only 8 such cells.

Are these digits meant to count themselves? Or is the parenthetical unintentionally claiming an excessively high bound.

it does include itself, i'll add a clarification
