Parity Fun 39

(Published on 25. July 2026, 10:00 by galium_odoratum)

Again an attempt to combine parity and Nurikabe, this time even closer to the original Nurikabe theme. There is an alternate version with a more or less trivial endgame, since in the original version the endgame requires quite tricky classic Sudoku which is not completely fitting the Nurikabe focus. Anyway, both versions are a bit tricky but should be still somewhat approachable. Have fun!

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Parity Nurikabe
Islands with cages: Orthogonally connected cells containing even digits form distinct islands. Each island contains exactly one cage. The size of an island equals the difference obtained by subtracting the digit in the cage from the number shown in its top-left corner, or vice versa. It is up to the solver to determine which subtraction applies for each island.

Odd Waterway with diamonds: Cells containing odd digits form the waterway. All waterway cells are orthogonally connected, and no 2×2 area may consist entirely of waterway cells.
A digit in a diamond counts the number of waterway cells visible from that cell (including the diamond cell itself), plus or minus 1.

Fog: Some clues are hidden by fog. All island cages are fully visible from the start.

Brilliant! Two fun puzzles in one, a very nice nurikabe followed by a tricky and fun sudoku. Thanks
