Build Your Own Renbanmometers

(Published on 22. November 2022, 03:40 by purpl)

In my other puzzle Region Renbanmos, I used this portmanteau to great effect, but I have further exploited this combination into a build your own puzzle! Except without the region sum part, obviously... now there's an idea. This puzzle was at least partially inspired by Hidden Thermo Sudoku by Prutsbeest. It was created for the purposes of being used in the Duality Puzzle Pack (a CtC Patreon reward pack), but was ultimately pulled from that pack. I decided to release it standalone because I have been sitting on it for three months and I've been excited about it since the day I made it.

Rules:

Normal sudoku rules apply.

Along renbanmometers, digits must increase from the bulb end and form a non-repeating consecutive sequence. That is they form an ordered sequence.

The renbanmometers in this puzzle are all hidden, only their bulbs and tips are given. Bulbs are larger circles while tips are smaller circles. Corresponding tips and bulbs share the same colour (or letter).

Renbanmometers can move diagonally or orthogonally, but renbanmometers cannot ever cross and different renbanmometers cannot share a cell.

This was a very nice puzzle. I'm at home sick with Covid and it took me forever to finish this (brain fog + kept falling asleep lol). But it was extremely entertaining and each little logical bit made me smile. Thanks!

It might be a good idea to clarify that the bulbs are big and tips small to save solvers having to make the assumption. Also the bulbs and tips are given for each renbanmometer - the and/or confused me slightly. Nice puzzle - quite similar to one by Prutsbeest that tripped up Simon on CTC a while back.
