Doppelt (Double Arrow)

(Published on 17. September 2021, 16:48 by tallcat)

After solving the excellent "Diamond" and "Valence" by Zetamath (I recommend them highly), I wanted to have a go at using the 'Double Arrow' ruleset myself. This turned out to be quite tricky (in the 4-5 range depending on your level) but I am pleased I got it to work. Happy solving! (and please leave a comment if you enjoyed)

Normal Sudoku rules apply

Double Arrows: The lines and circles are double arrows. The sum of the digits on the line must equal the sum of the digits in its end circles. Digits may repeat on double arrows (lines and circles) if allowed by other rules.

As an example, if two circles containing 5 and 7 are connected by a 3-cell line, the line might contain the digits 2, 4, and 6.

Can be played online at CTC

Solution code: Column 2 (Top to bottom) and row 7 (left to right). 18 digits, no spaces.

Very nice interactions between all the different lines and circles! Took me a while to get my head around it to find the opening, but after that it was smooth sailing.

Awesome puzzle! The way it avoids any tedious deductions despite the appearance of the grid at some point was thoroughly clever and enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this take on this rule set. This was quite a challenge for me for sure, but I highly recommend it! I definitely hope to see Simon tackling this at some point too!

Challenging in the first half and then the later half is really worth the effort. I really felt relieved at one point there :)
