Wichtel 2020 (1): Ein JaMaHoRu!

(Published on 17. March 2021, 20:20 by wichtel)

To Christmas 2020 some eager puzzlefriends have again arranged a group in which everybody had to make anonymously a puzzle for someone else. These puzzles are now presented one after the other here in the portal.

Dear friend and inventor of JaTaHoKu,

As part of my search for a nice Wichtel puzzle, I recently invited all of your favorite puzzle genres to my house. This time slitherlink, magic labyrinth, skyscrapers and Japanese sums answered the invitation.

But first we should discuss the distancing rules. It quickly became clear that all the groups should keep to themselves, and in addition a few plexiglass dividers were set up. The Japanese sums and skyscrapers remembered well their previous visit and returned to the same positions they held back then. Mingling wasn't possible this time, which is why the inner region was rapidly cleared for the loop, and the magic labyrinth situated itself in the surrounding area.

Out of solidarity for the loop, the magic labyrinth arrived with the digits 0 to 3 in tow. The skyscrapers insisted that in each row and column the digits 0 to 3 had to appear; but they also agreed, in this instance, to include the zeroes in their counting. For the Japanese sums, zeroes were already a familiar quantity, but they did agree to completely ignore the plexiglass dividers. Though I believe that later in the evening they probably wouldn't have been able to tell the difference anymore.

Just like when at your house, things got a little boozy, so that in the group photo at the end I needed to remove a few guests from the picture. I did manage to convince the Japanese sums to only erase entire rows, and to otherwise use placeholders, where needed.

And here is the group photo - or rather, that which remains of it:

Solution code: Row 5 and column 7 (- for empty cell), followed by the sizes of regions outside the loop in clockwise order, starting in the top left corner

Was für eine schöne Idee! Und ich finde es sehr beeindruckend, wie sich das Räsel am Ende zusammendröselt.
