Build Your Own Battenberg

Normal Sudoku rules apply.
RENBAN - Digits on each pink cake strip are from a consecutive set in any order.
REGION SUM - Box borders divide each blue cake strip into sections with the same sum.
BATTENBERG - Assemble the cake strips into a 2x2x8 Battenberg cake, without flips or rotation (i.e. so that the 4 cake digits in each column form a 2x2 slice). Place each 2x2 slice, and its digits, on a different Battenberg clue, so that its colors match the clue's colors: blue on blue, pink on pink. You may flip or rotate slices to achieve this.

@Prince Myshkin: Essentially if you imagine that the pair of pink and pair of blue cake slice in each of columns 1-8 each create a set of 4 digits (2 of each colour) and then each of those 8 sets of digits need to be placed (with colour-matching) around the eight battenberg symbols.
eg. If r1289c1 were 1234 then you would need to find the right battenberg symbols to place a 1 and a 3 diagonally opposite on the pink corners, and a 2 and a 4 diagonally opposite on the blue corners. Hope that helps!

These instructions are utterly inscrutable to me. What? 2x2x8, on a 2-dimensional grid? What cake strips? Should I know what this is talking about from other puzzles?
