Dutch Masyu

(Published on 23. October 2026, 23:31 by yttrio)

This is my second Masyu/Sudoku hybrid, the first of which was Modular Masyu, which contains an example image to clarify how the digits in circle clues work.

Rules:
Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Masyu: Draw a single non-intersecting loop through the centers of some cells that passes through every circle clue. The loop must turn on black circles and pass straight through the cells on either side. The loop must go straight through white circles and turn in at least one of the cells on either side.

The loop acts as a Dutch Whispers line (i.e., adjacent digits on the loop must have a difference of at least 4).

The digit in each given circle clue counts the total number of loop cells in all straight loop segments coming of of the cell (counting the cells where the loop turns, and counting the clued cell itself once).

Solution code: Digits on the loop in row 2 (left to right) followed by digits on the loop in row 8 (left to right)

I love masyus! Thank you! It might be worth clarifying that only orthogonal movement is allowed for those who are not used to the puzzle format.

@basilicon : If the segments joining in R1C4 were R1C1234 and R123C4 then R1C4 is 6 as R1C4 only counts one time.
Check out this other masyu puzzle from yttrio. The link is in the beginning of the page.
There is a 6X6 example of what a masyu loops looks like with the same system of length count.

Hi, can I get a little clarification on the last rule? The digit in each circle clue counts the total number of loop cells in all straight loop segments coming out of that cell (i.e. the cell containing the circle clue)? So always 1 or 2? Or am I missing something? An example would be helpful
