Normal Sudoku rules apply.
Compass: The digit 1 represents one of the eight compass directions - you must determine which. The rest of the compass goes clockwise up to 8 - thus, if for example 1 were north-east, 2 would be east and so on up to 8 being north.
Loop: Construct a loop made up of multiple straight line segments, each starting from the last cell of the previous segment; this cell indicates the compass direction in which the new segment travels, which may not be the same as that of the previous segment. Line segments never cross walls (including the pillars at the corners of walls), nor do they cross each other.
Circles: Any line segment containing a circle (including at the start or end of the segment) contains a number of cells (including both ends) equal to the digit in that circle, and all circles are on at least one segment.
Dots: Golden dots separate non-consecutive digits. There is no restriction on whether or not segments may pass through them.

Awesome. Took some time to understand the rules. Wonder if a lines segment cannot intersect is necessary. Took me a 4.5* solve time. Brilliant setting thx.

am I right that a line segment means a straight line essentially? like a line segment of 2 would be 2 cells in a diagonal/orthogonal straight line?
