While the sudoku is unobserved, how do you know if it contains lines or cages?

Rules:
Variant Schrödinger sudoku (values are totals for clues), look-and-say cages, palindromes rules apply.
Schrödinger Sudoku: Fill the grid with the digits 0-9 so that all digits appear once each in a row, column or box. Cells have a value of the sum of their contained digits.
Look-and-Say Cages: The number in the top left of the cage is split up into pairs XY, each read as 'there are X values of Y in the cage'.
Palindromes: Cell values along a palindrome line read the same forwards as backwards.
