Twilight U-Bahn

(Published on 27. September 2026, 12:37 by Piatato)

Rules:

Draw a loop network through the centers of some cells, which may branch or turn, but may not have any dead ends.

A number outside the grid indicates how many times the corresponding line shape (i.e. a cross, branch, straight line, or turn) appears in the corresponding row or column, irrespective of the line shape's rotation.

If a number inside the grid is visited by the loop network, it counts how many times it sees the same line shape as itself (including rotations) horizontally and vertically, including itself. Empty cells block vision.

If a number inside the grid is not visited by the loop network, it counts the amount of empty cells that it can reach via other empty cells orthogonally, including itself. A group of empty cells may contain one, several or zero clues.

This puzzle has one of the most beautiful sequences of deductions I've seen in a long time!

I created this puzzle for Scojo's Secret Impostor event, which works like this: the first week, every participant sets a puzzle in their own style (this was my attempt), and the second week everyone draws someone that they will try to impersonate. phil_the drew me, and set a lovely puzzle in my style, with my name on it. After Scojo solved both puzzles on stream last night, his Twitch viewers voted on which puzzle that they thought was actually set by me. I am happy to report that I won! :)
Phil's puzzle can be found here: https://logic-masters.de/Raetselportal/Raetsel/zeigen.php?id=000THC

As for the ruleset, I was inspired by the u-bahn ruleset from 000PJ7, which I thought would work well with a twilight cave/nurikabe twist.

Excellent variant! Loved it. And a brilliant showcase of your own style too. Congratulations for winning the impostor challenge with that. For solvers, be sure to have a go at the example too, it has some neat original steps as well.
