  • Normal 9x9 sudoku rules apply.
  • SHADED CELLS: Shade one cell in each row, column, and box. Digits cannot repeat in shaded cells.
  • UNSHADED SUMS: Clues outside the grid relate the sum of all unshaded digits before the shaded cell in its row/column to the sum of all unshaded digits after the shaded cell. For example, "3x" means the sum of digits before the shaded cell is three times the sum of digits after the shaded cell.

  • ("+8" means the sum before is 8 more than the sum after. "=" means the sums are equal. "<" means the sum before is less than the sum after)
  • A "?" represents a number from 0-9. Different question marks can represent the same or different numbers. For two-digit clues, the "?" takes the place of the ones digit or tens digit; for example "?1" may be 01, 11, 21, etc., and "??" may be 00, 12, 30, etc.

Absolutely delightful puzzle, would love another one with this ruleset! Lots of fun interactions and bouncing around different parts of the grid, but I’m very grateful for being able to use the solution checker mid solve because I made so many missteps from bad assumptions! I had to start over about 3 times, always because of column nine

Great job!

Very interesting ruleset! Looks menacing at first but it's very digestible and smooth after rules click in your head.

I think this puzzle is broken?
-------------------------
What seems to be the problem?
-------------------------
Row 2, the +31 should be a +21 I think.
-------------------------
Lol! Sorry about that one. It was originally a "+?1" clue but I changed it to make the puzzle smoother. Thanks for spotting that, and thanks for solving!
