RULES :
Normal Sudoku rules apply.
**Set of rules 1**
Orange diamonds are fire spawner. The fire spreads from them orthogonaly only (no diagonals) and cannot take turns. The fire can only be stopped by a pair of "agents" (always the two same digits) when they are next to each other (orthogonaly only). Then they create a barrier and stop the fire. If an agent is not next to its pair it is ineffective and fire can go through. The fire should not reach the books (brown rectangles). Also, the sum of the agents pair equals the digit covered by the books (always the same digit). Agents cannot be placed on fire spawners.
**Set of rules 2**
Killer Cages : Digits in cages must sum to the number in the top-left corner and cannot repeat. Also, "agents" cannot be placed inside a killer cage.
Thermometers : Numbers on a thermometer strictly increase as they move away from the bulb.

I'm not sure on the meaning of the rules - if fire can only be stopped by two agents beside each other, and agents can't be in killer cages, then i can't see how the fire can be stopped from spreading from r8c8 to burn r9c9 as a barrier can't be created?

Hi, fire cannot move diagonnaly, so the fire spawner in r8c8 can't burn the book in r9c9. Fire can not take turns also, maybe thats what confusing you. Hope that helps !

Thanks for the clarification, so the fire radiates in straight lines from each spawner (unless stopped)
I was reading it like some previous "infection" style puzzles, where the fire spreading from one cell would cause another cell to burn, and that cell could also spread (like fire does)
In other words, while its not thematic to 451, the spawners act like light sources radiating beams and need to be blocked by walls/agents to not hit books.
