For those really struggling with this one, maybe coloring isn't the answer. There's some really pleasant given digits, don't ignore them!
(I tried several attempts at coloring the puzzle; eventually restarted my approach, and solved it in maybe 15 minutes).

might be the first marty sears puzzle i've completed! i usually stick to 1 star puzzles but i thought i'd give this 2 star a try. took a while but got there in the end! thanks for the fun puzzle :-)
