Squaresville

(Eingestellt am 31. August 2026, 04:59 Uhr von lgastako)

I was inspired by another sudoku with a lot of squares of the same nature to make one with a lot of squares of different natures. I think it ended up as quite a smooth and fun little puzzle (albeit with a surfeit of rules) so I hope you enjoy it. As always, feedback is welcomed and encouraged, so leave a comment below and let me know what you thought.

  • Normal Sudoku Rules: Fill each row, column, and 3x3 box with the digits 1-9 once each.
  • German Whispers: Along green lines, digits must differ from their neighbors by at least 5.
  • Thermometers: Digits along a thermometer strictly increase from the bulb end.
  • Renban: Purple lines contain a non-repeating set of consecutive digits in any order.
  • Entropic Lines: Any set of three consecutive cells along a peach entropic line must contain one low digit {1, 2, 3}, one middle digit {4, 5, 6}, and one high digit {7, 8, 9}.
  • Modular Lines: Any set of three consecutive cells along a teal modular line must contain one digit from each modular set: {1, 4, 7}, {2, 5, 8}, and {3, 6, 9}.
  • Parity Lines: Consecutive digits along a red parity line alternate between odd and even.
  • Between Lines: Digits along a between line must have values strictly between the values of the two numbers in the circles at each end of the line.
  • Arrows: The sum of the digits along an arrow is equal to the digits in the connected pill (read left to right). Digits along an arrow can repeat if allowed by other rules. NB. In this puzzle the arrow head overlaps with the sum, ie. the second digit of the sum contributes to the sum.
  • Killer Cages: Digits in cages must not repeat and must sum to the number in the upper left corner of the cage (if present).
  • White Kropkis/Black Kropkis: Digits in cells separated by a white dot are consecutive. Digits in cells separated by a black dot have a 1:2 ratio.
  • X/V: Cells separated by X must sum to 10. Cells separated by V must sum to 5.
  • Odd/Even: Digits in gray circles are odd. Digits in gray squares are even.

Nice puzzle, but I wasted a lot time doing the math for Box 1. The arrowhead does not show up on the Sudokupad. And only later did i reread the rules carefully enough to finish it off. Luckily i did not need it early in the solve. Otherwise, straightforward solve. A bit more difficult than the other squaresville as you have to bounce around more across the boxes for the solve.

(lgastako): Sorry to hear about your experience with box 1. I tried to do everything I could to avoid this by putting the note with a link to the logic masters page on the sudokupad version but I figured it would probably still trip some people up, especially since I, myself, tend to skim the rules for puzzles that look standard. I'm glad you were able to get on with it.

As for the other Squaresville... annoyingly I somehow missed that when I was searching for names. I was originally planning on "It's Hip to Be Square", or "Fair and Square" but discovered both of those were already taken. I thought Squaresville was not, but apparently I was wrong. I guess all the good "Square" puns are taken in the sudoku world :)
