Orthogonal Neighbour Cages Again

(Eingestellt am 24. August 2026, 15:17 Uhr von pagedo)

Orthogonal Neighbour Cages:
Foggy Orthogonal Neighbour Cages

Normal Sudoku Rules apply.
The sets of ratios in Orthogonal Neighbour Cages, indicated by dotted lines, defines all the orthogonal caged neighbours of 1 or more of the cage's digits. For example "3:124 6:78" indicates that the digit 3 has 3 caged neighbours 1, 2 and 4, and the digit 6 has 2 caged neighbours 7 and 8.
What cells the digits 3 6 1 2 4 7 8 are in the cage is to be determined by the solver.
Digits may repeat in cages and can have different neighbour digits.
Digits in cells joined by an V sum to 5.
Digits in cells joined by a white dot are consecutive.
Not all Vs or dots are necessarily given.

Very interesting rule set, but I gave up with trying to understand the rules. So many questions. What does this mean: "...and can have different neighbour digits", seems obvious, or different from what? Also if you have a rule cage with 5:3. Can there be multiple 5's in the cage and should they all have a neigbour 3 or not? But it also says "defines all the orthogonal caged neighbours" ?????

- "can have different neighbour digits" - refers to repeating digits in a cage - eg. there could be a 2 in a cage with only one orthogonal neighbour and another 2 in the same cage with two different orthogonal neighbours.
- next part of your query is answered above.
- "defines all the orthogonal caged neighbours" - the given ratios defines all the orthogonal caged neighbours for 1 or more of the caged digits - eg if the following cage ratios were given 2:5 3:78 5:78 for a 10 cell cage, this indicates there is a 2 with only one orthogonal neighbour whose digit is 5, there is also a 3 with two orthogonal neighbours of 7 and 8 and there is a 5 with two orthogonal neighbours of 7 and 8. The pairs of 5s, 7s or 8s defined by the ratios may indicate there are two of those digits in the cage or there could be only one digit and the ratios are overlapping - needs to be determined by the solver.

I kept breaking the puzzle until I realized I was reading the 8 on the line as a 3. Much better after that.
