hi! this one was inspired by my love of group theory... knowledge of abstract algebra is not required!!
i've been really enjoying setting puzzles recently:)

Rules

  • Normal Sudoku rules apply.
  • Cages form a table (a Cayley Cage).
  • Each Cayley Cage has an operation, a top row and left column.
  • Numbers within a Cayley Cage are equal to their operation acted upon the respective row and column values, in that order.
  • The number in the intersection of the leading row and column (the top left corner) represents the operation, and is the same for a given operation throughout the puzzle. It is for the solver to deduce which number represents which operation.
  • Values in the leading row and column of a Cayley Cage need not be in order.
  • Digits may repeat in a Cayley Cage where Sudoku rules permit.
  • Cells separated by a black dot are in a ratio of 1:2. Not all black dots are necessarily given.

Example of a "Cayley Cage":

Solution code: The numbers representing addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, in that order, followed by the top row. If an operation is not present in the puzzle, represent it with a 0.
