This is not very hard but does requires a bit of thinking.

  • Place digits from 1 to 9 in each row and column without repeat. Digits might repeat in a 3x3 box.
  • Digits in the TOP LEFT box indicate how many EVEN digits there are in the corresponding box (top left cell for the top left box, middle cell for the middle box, etc).
  • Similarly, digits in the BOTTOM RIGHT box indicate how many ODD digits there are in the corresponding box.
  • Digits separated by a white dot are consecutive. Not all white dots are given.
  • Clues at the edge of the grid indicate the sum of the first X digits in that row or column, where X is the first seen digit.

Very interesting concept, I enjoyed working it out! Fairly tricky.

Regarding the rules, I think it would help to begin with "Normal sudoku rules DO NOT apply." Aside from that, I think they are clear. I agree with using "box" instead of "region" in this context.

Digits MIGHT repeat in boxes... that's an important rule that I missed at first glance.
