Star Student

I like this one a lot. Let me know how difficult you think this is in the comments. If you want to be my Star Student, then you better be prepared to learn!
Rules:
Normal sudoku rules apply.
Place stars in cells such that there is exactly one star per 3x3 box (Some stars have already been given). Each starred digit is a different digit. The starred digit within each box is the star student for that box. Star students not only excel in their academic results, but they also encourage and elevate their fellow peers!
Digits in cages inherit a numeric value equal to the star student's digit in their box. Digits in a cage sum to the small clue in the top-left in two different ways simultaneously; both by summing the digits themselves, and by using the numeric value assigned to each digit by their respective star student. Some small clues in cages are hidden. Digits cannot repeat within a cage, and stars cannot be placed in cages.
Pairs of digits with white dots in between them are consecutive. Not all white dots are necessarily given.

Oh I adored this ruleset!! What a fun and original puzzle! If this is a future ruleset I think it could use a spot for notes, but so so good

THIS WAS SO FUN
I love that it feels impenetrable, but once I figured out a fun notation method of possibilities, I felt like I was floating. Very cool, all the way through. Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing this gem.

Looked like it was going to be very tricky, but it ended up as a difficult-but-fair, and very smooth solve. Loved it!

I caught the implications of the rules pretty quickly - they do require some thought. 3* for me.

This is the sort of puzzle that, when you figure out the implications of the rules, it becomes really accessible. The puzzle solved smoothly all the way for me and the difficulty felt no more than 3*. Congratulations!
