(Published on 24. July 2026, 22:24 by yttrio)

This is my sixth contribution to the series started by ThePedallingPianist.

FORTRESS FILLOMINO:
• Divide the grid into orthogonally connected regions and fill each cell with a number (not necessarily single-digit) showing the number of cells in the region to which it belongs;
• Each region must be either strictly larger than all of its orthogonal neighbours or strictly smaller than all of its orthogonal neighbours.

REGION COUNTING ARROWS:
• Numbers in cells with arrows count the number of unique Fillomino regions in the indicated direction.
• The arrow does not count the cell itself, but will count other cells in the same region as the arrow.
• If an arrow sees multiple segments of a region, that region is only counted once.

Excellent puzzle, fair, but very challenging! (57mins)
Probably 3.5/5 if half points were a thing.

Realized early on using 2 colors makes this type of puzzle much easier, very enjoyable!

Very cool ruleset! After some initial thoughts it flowed quite nicely. Still, the last few regions took me a while. Thanks a lot!

Satisfying, narrow solve path and some deductions took a while to spot
