I see that the break-in for this puzzle can be hard to find. I am actually a bit surprised about this puzzle ending up at 2*, but sometimes what's seems easy for the setter may not be that easy for others.
THE BREAK IN:
The initial break-in is ment to happen after all V's and X's dominos are looked into and pencil marked. Since this is an 8x8 grid, the 1 can be excluded from all X-dominos. This leaves a 346 in r1c4 and 467 in r2c4. Because the r3c4 only can be either 3 or 7, the 3 and 7 are removed from r1c4 and r2c4, leaving a 46 pair in those cells. Looking down the grid, this newly 46 pair removes the 4 in r7c4, revealing the first digit. From there, most of the dominos can be completed and normal sudoku will take over.
I hope this helps you that get stuck. For me, at least, filling in the dominos is quite fun, so with this I hope the puzzle gets more accessible.

Gave up trying to find thr break after 30 and just bifurcated. Coloring didn't get anywhere.

Dunno what I missed, I did get stuck for what felt like a 50/50 for ages. Eventually got it all!
