Surrounding Squares
(Published on 10. July 2026, 10:56 by 72kchunshuai)
I rate this 4* mainly because of the trick needed in the break-in. Hope you enjoy solving it!
Rules:
- Normal Sudoku rules apply: Place the digits 1–9 once each in every row, column, and 3x3 box.
- Diagonal: Digits must not repeat on the marked blue diagonal.
- Killer Cages: Digits within a dashed cage MAY repeat. The sum of the digits in each cage is always a square number (e.g., 1, 4, 9, 16, 25...).
- Nabner Dot: Digits separated by the yellow dot cannot be consecutive.

This is a perfect puzzle for a CTC Simon solve. I rated this 4* but this was a smooth (albeit challenging) solve; I never had any moments where I felt I needed to bifurcate. Congratulations on setting this up!

Thanks for playing! It's always been a long-term goal of mine to set a puzzle worthy of CTC's level.
