Previous Dutch Flat Mate Puzzles
This has been a weekly series since '18 Oct 23'. Here is a spreadsheet link for all the previous puzzles in the series, which also has a few teasers for upcoming constraints/guest setters in the series (subject to change).
This alternative link offers a limited LMD search for Dutch Flat Mates.
Special Thanks
Initially inspired by SennyK who made German Sums, which had an outside clue indicating the sum of a typically internal clue. Sujoyku made the first puzzle I saw with Thermometer logic, with Ascending Sums.
Crusader175 kindly gave me the original name of the constraint during a test solve. The constraint has been around far longer than I realised.
In Other News
Speaking of Crusader175, he has released a lovely puzzle this week using Dutch Flat Mates called Ultimate Jackpot. Please check it out.

Initial Setter Difficulty: 3 / 5
Normal Sudoku rules apply
Place the digits 1-9 so that they do not repeat in any row, column, or 3x3 box.
Dutch Flats
Every 5 in the grid must have a '1' directly above it or a '9' directly below it. It may have both, but it doesn't need both.
Ascending Starters
Clues outside the grid indicate the sum of the first set of all ascending digits starting from the first cell from the corresponding side. Sets may consist of only one digit.
Hint to start
Can all the 8 clues be multi-digit sums? Consider how 9 would be problematic.
Next Week
GoodCity is back with a constraint that sounds like something you might need to get vaccinated against!
Solution code: Column 4 Digits
