For this Sudoku Variants Project I have planned to publish a unique Sudoku variant every week.
First seen odd/even
Inspiration for this type comes from Realshaggy.
Solve online in Sudokupad.
I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.
Apply classic sudoku rules.
An odd clue outside the grid indicates the first seen odd digit from that side; an even clue outside the grid indicates the first seen even digit from that side.

Wow. That was hard won and slow going. I don't normally spend that long on puzzles with no embedded solution and several times I was on the point of giving up when I found just one more tiny bit of logic, but it was very rewarding to finally get through to the end.

Never seizes to amaze how people come up with these. Again I thought at first there's no way I can solve this only to immediately find myself well on the way of grasping how the rule works.
