Rules:
Normal sudoku rules apply. Digits cannot repeat within a cage, and they sum to a total which must be deduced. Each distinct cage total appears a different number of times in the puzzle.

SPOILERS AHEAD:
strong focus on basic sudoku keeps this at level 2.
the cage sums are really quite easy.
hints.
1) what is the secret ? how many ways can you get that ? (N=1 taken)
2) what is the lowest sum for an 8-cell cage ? how many cells do you need to get that high ? (N=2 taken)
3) is 45 divisible by 2 ? how many 25 cages can there be ? (--> N=3,4 taken)
4) N=5 forced. what's the minimum value for those cages ?
5) box 9 is strongly forced.

Appears daunting at first, but this is approachable when looked at the right way. In the end, there was nothing too complex here. Perfect the way one box in the puzzle is the key to unlocking the sum totals. Low end of 3* for me. Really enjoyed this!
