1 is The King, 9 is The Queen, 7 is The Bishop, 5 is The Knight, 3 is The Rook and the even numbers are Pawns. Any King can never be in check from another piece (Pawns do not check in this puzzle). Any Pawn or other piece will block a check if between The King and the checker (unless the Knight is the checker). Kings may not be adjacent to each other diagonally.
Xs separate two digits that sum to ten - ALL Xs are given.
Vs separate two digits that sum to five - NOT all Vs are given.
