Left Grid

(Eingestellt am 29. September 2026, 22:30 Uhr von Calvinball)

This puzzle is a celebration of Scojo's 2026 imposter event. At the start of the event Scojo debuted a new break graphic made by the one and only marty_sears, and in that graphic were two generic looking sudoku grids with seemingly random lines and dots in them. Dorlir and myself decided to challenge ourselves to turn those grids into unique sudoku puzzles, each of us taking one of them and then presenting them to chat as if I had set both of them, to see if they could figure out which one was the real "me", Dorlir's take on the other grid can be found Here.

This turned out to be quite the undertaking as having no control of where the clues are can be very unforgiving. And I will admit that I broke this puzzle and it broke me more than once. And I made some choices I might not have normally, but that was half the fun of the challenge. Ultimately I think we churned out two very nice puzzles in our efforts.

Below will be a link to solve the puzzle as I originally presented it, and another with more conventional line/dot colors you are probably used to, which will also be more colorblind friendly.

If you have any questions feel free to DM me on Discord.

Happy solving!

Rules:

  • Normal Sudoku rules apply. Place the digits 1-9 exactly once in every row, column, and 3x3 box.
  • German Whispers Line: The purple line is a German Whispers. Adjacent digits along the line must have a difference of at least 5.
  • Ambiguous Thermo: The green line in the grid is an Ambiguous Thermo. Digits strictly increase along the line from bulb to tip. The bulb of the line needs to be deduced by the solver. The bulb will always be on one end of the line, never in the middle.
  • Ambiguous Hitline: The orange line is an Ambiguous Hitline. No digit repeats along it. The digit in position 1 is the sum of all digits that match their position along the line (starting with position 1). Position 1 needs to be deduced by the solver. Position 1 will always be on one end of the line, never in the middle.
  • Ambiguous Pinklines: The nature of the two pink lines needs to be deduced by the solver. One of them is an Entropic Line and the other is an Ambiguous Index Line.
    • Ambiguous Index Line: The value in the Nth cell along the pink line (starting from the diamond) indicates the position along the line where the value N appears. For example, if the diamond cell has a value 3, the third cell along that line must have a value 1. The diamond of the line needs to be deduced by the solver. The diamond will always be on one end of the line, never in the middle.
    • Entropy Line: Any three adjacent digits along an Entropy Line are from one each of low (1,2,3), medium (4,5,6), and high (7,8,9).
  • Renban Line: The purple line in the grid is a Renban line. Digits on a line form a set of non-repeating, consecutive digits in any order.
  • Ratio Dots: Digits separated by a black dot have a 1:2 ratio. Not all dots are necessarily given.
  • Minimum/Maximum Circles: White circles which share an edge with the grid perimeter are larger than all other cells that share an edge. White circles which don't touch the grid perimeter are smaller than all other cells that share an edge.
  • Anti Ratio Circle Addendum: Larger white circles are never in 1:2 ratio with any cell that shares an edge.
