Diamonds Dancing, by pmays123

  • Normal 9x9 sudoku rules apply.
  • Draw 45-degree diagonal lines connecting the centers of diamonds (one such line is given). Each diamond is connected to at least one other diamond. A diamond's value is the number of diamonds directly connected to it (up to 4).
  • Each of the four digits surrounding a white diamond must be wholly divisible by that diamond's value (e.g. 10 is wholly divisible by 1, 2, 5, and 10).
  • Each of the four digits surrounding a black diamond must not be wholly divisible by that diamond's value (e.g. 10 is not wholly divisible by 3 because there is remainder 1).
  • White dots sit between consecutive digits. Black dots sit between digits in a 1:2 ratio. Not all dots are necessarily given.

Well, this was quite a journey. Based on my time I would estimate the difficulty 4-5* (took longer than the usual 4* for me). Regarding the solve, I am a bit conflicted. It was satisfying how everything resolved at the end but the way to get there was a bit tedious at certain steps. Since it is really hard to pencilmark this ruleset, I often had you test out many options in my mind, which felt a bit "bruteforced". On the other hand I always enjoy fresh and not overcomplicated rulesets. Maybe sth to consider: orthogonal connections, just for the sake of pencilmarking. Thank you for setting this interesting puzzle :)
