Rapuzzle, Rapuzzle, Let Down Your Sausage

(Eingestellt am 8. Juni 2026, 23:30 Uhr von ThePedallingPianist)

This is my very belated response to Scojo's setting prompt for 14th March 2026, for which ratfinkz redeemed the prompt, "Great constraint but does it sausage".

My sincerest apologies to Scojo for not only using his new Sausage constraint, but also for blatantly copying being somewhat inspired by one of his puzzles of all time, the iconic Rapuzzle. Please check out Copycat Sausage, which (I'm sure he wouldn't mind me saying) in puzzling terms is a much richer experience, and an all-round superb construction.

Huge thanks to the incredible DubiousMobius for the artwork on this puzzle. Please check out the stunningly beautiful Fog and Phantoms series to see what he is capable of when the subject material isn't a sausage dangling out of a tower.

I estimate this puzzle's difficulty to be hard, but there are some fiddly bits that might feel very hard to those with less experience.

Normal sudoku rules apply: Place the digits 1-9 once each in every row, column, and 3x3 box.

Anti-Knight: Cells a chess knight's move away cannot contain the same digit.

Tower Fortress: Cells that are part of the gray tower must be greater than all orthogonally adjacent non-tower cells. Note: any cell that the tower even partially covers is considered a fortress cell.

Rapunzel's Sausage: The difference between the sums of two linked sausages on a chain must be exactly equal to the number of sausages in that chain.

Rapunzel's Face: The digit on Rapunzel's face shows how many numbers of the opposite odd/even parity to itself appear on the whole sausage chain.

Lösungscode: Column 9 (rightmost), top to bottom

solving the tower and the sausage was pretty fun, but then piecing together the rest of the puzzle became pretty tedious

Not just funny but a high quality puzzle!

I always thought it must hurt Rapunzel when the knight climbed her hair. So it's nice that this time she can offer sausages instead, nothing other than sausages

With all those sausages, it looks like Rapuzzle could use a visit from her friend Griddle (y'know, Hansel's sister.)

Lovely logic along with some hefty anti-knight shenanigans. Thanks for having me along for the journey!

A worthy successor to one of the puzzles to have ever featured on this platform. Really got the vibe of the original, albeit a touch too much anti knight scanning for my tastes.

The mark of a true prominent author is the ability to both meme and deliver an exceptional puzzle at the same time.

So am I reading the rules correctly that the sum of R8C7 & R9C8 minus R8C6 should equal +/-3 because there are three cells total between them?

---

TPP: Not quite - there are 6 sausages in the chain, so the rules are saying that the sums of any two linked sausages differ by 6. Hope that helps :)
