I'll start with the unusual request if that's ok...
A couple of days ago I published a sudoku - one of my favourite constructions so far - a Blue Prince themed puzzle in honour of the Cracking the Cryptic streams (which I'm sure a few on here are familiar with). However for some reason it just hasn't had views - with only 3 solves at time of writing.
I don't like pointing people back to another puzzle - I certainly don't want to sound bigheaded - but I just think plenty of solvers who would enjoy it might not spot it now that it's gone a couple of pages down the list. So I hope it's alright to link back this previous puzzle here:

And now, to today's puzzle: London Smog.
London, December 1952. Coal smoke from a million chimneys mingles with the cold winter fog, blanketing the Capital in a suffocating yellow cloud: Smog.
Place the digits 1-9 once each in every row and column. The puzzle also contains nine irregularly-shaped regions which each contain the digits 1-9. These regions will be revealed as the smog clears.
Smog: The grid is covered in smog. Correctly entering a digit will clear the smog in that cell. When a cell clears of smog, any orthogonally adjacent cell which contains a consecutive number will also be cleared of smog.
Soot: a soot particle (black dot) in between two cells indicates that one of those cells is exactly double the other. All possible soot particles are given.
Trees: a tree cell contains a digit equal to the sum of four orthogonally adjacent "root" cells. Every possible unique tree appears once in this puzzle (i.e. no tree's set of digits can be rotated or flipped to match another tree). Trees may share one or more root cells with other trees.

Question as I'm getting started, are the tree cells marked, or we have to determine their location?
--------
Reply: They are marked - when you enter a tree digit (clearing fog) it will reveal a green disc for that tree. There are some features of tree cells that you'll need to work out (I recommend starting the puzzle by listing out all of the possible trees). Hope that helps! -SJ
