Where Do I Sign?

(Eingestellt am 2. Februar 2026, 01:49 Uhr von ThePedallingPianist)

This is my response to Scojo's setting prompt for this week, for which juggler has invited setters to invent a new clue type, or at least new to the setter's knowledge (apologies if this has been done and I missed it!). I feel that I could have been much more creative than this, but I'm aware that juggler is planning a second stage to this prompt, and without knowing what that is I thought it would be best to play it safe!

Normal 6x6 sudoku rules apply.

Region borders split Dotted Lines into segments. The sums of adjacent segments on a line must be either in a 1:2 ratio or consecutive.

Lösungscode: Row 1 (top), left to right

As a non-native speaker, I needed a moment to fully parse the rule wording, but once it clicked, it was a very satisfying solve. Many thanks!

This was maybe the most beautiful flow of any Sudoku, ever, and surely IMO the most beautiful flow of a 6x6. I was mesmerized. The ruleset is chaotic, unwieldy, you initially think "how can I even deduce anything here". And then, it just unfurls. This is the first time I remember having this feeling in a 6x6 puzzle: they're usually too small and approachable to give you that "wtf" feeling, before they give in. But this one totally delivers, even as a rather-quick 6x6. Bravo!

Lovely tidy little bundle of logic. Thanks!

This is a lovely puzzle and for me, even as a 6x6, a solid 1*

That was a GAS.

This will probably be the only time I will ever complete a PedallingPianist puzzle in 15:22, so I will enjoy this feeling while it lasts. Brilliant idea and nice presentation. Each line had it's own satisfying secrets and deductions to discover. The last step seemed annoying at first, like it would be a lot of case-checking. But I knew there must be a more pleasing 'clean' deduction to be found, and I was glad I trusted this instinct to look a bit longer for it, because when I found it after a few minutes, it was a nice aha moment.
ThePedallingPianist has said he finds it hard to set interesting but approachable 1 and 2 star puzzles, and this puzzle is great proof that he can do it beautifully when he puts his mind to it :)

Thank you very much for creating and sharing this lovely puzzle. For me the constraint was new, but you can never be sure. I remember that even index lines were invented twice.

Very nice flow! Reminds me of this: https://logic-masters.de/Raetselportal/Raetsel/zeigen.php?chlang=en&id=000K8G

I agree that the pure black on the line is very hard to read. I think an indicator at the box borders (as in the linked puzzle) would be better.

Thanks for the solve! Just solved that Gerhard puzzle, very nice and yes very similar, but hopefully different enough! I've updated the aesthetics as per a suggestion from juggler - I was definitely a bit lazy on the first draft but it should be better now :)

The dotted lines make it very difficult to read center pencil marks.

I also feel like I’ve seen this constraint in another puzzle within the last month or so, but I wouldn’t trust my memory.

Anyway, great puzzle, definitely had to work at it.

TPP: Thanks for the solve! I did make some minor efforts to improve pencil mark legibility but I was definitely a bit lazy with it, thankfully juggler has suggested a much better look and it's updated now! And yes, the ruleset may not be new - I'd be happy to solve anything else with this ruleset! I think it's new enough for this prompt as I understand it though!

Cute! Last logical step took me longer than I'd like to admit.

At first my brain read the rules as "region sum lines with adjacent digits as either white dot or black dot". Thankfully I didn't try that out! Nice puzzle. Fun, thanks!
