Denver Officiating Travesty

(Eingestellt am 18. Januar 2026, 05:24 Uhr von Will Power)

1/17/2026 Officials remove a catch from the receiver and award it to the defender. Game awarded to Denver. Normal Sudoku rules apply. GERMAN WHISPERS (Buffalo NFL Uniform)- Numbers on the BLUE line are at least 5 apart from their neighbors on the line. DUTCH WHISPERS (Denver NFL Uniform)- Numbers on the orange line are at least 4 apart from their neighbors on the line. KROPKI PAIRS- Numbers with a white dot between them are consecutive. Numbers with a black dot between them are in a ratio of 2:1. Not all possible dots are given. KILLER CAGE- The numbers in the cage sum to 15. The brown ball has no effect on the puzzle, just like it had no effect on the officiating judgement.

Another classic Will Power puzzle, with an impressive image rendered in 81 pixels!

As for the play, the travesty is not the call (though I think it is clearly a simultaneous catch, and therefore goes to BUF), it is the complete lack of any serious review by the refs. Regardless of our opinions on the play, the refs are required to check replay on a change of possession where there is any question, particularly on such a critical call, and they didn’t.

Sadly, I think the receiver’s reaction was a big part of the reason they didn’t. Had Cooks jumped up a signal first down, I think the refs might have had to give the play more consideration. Instead he lay on ground with the wind knocked out of him, looking like he’d lost the game.

Fun solve. Impressively quick post. Did you bet on the game? Are you a BUF fan or just a fan of the sport? I used to live in Upstate NY and CO so I have some love for both teams. The puzzle description was hilarious....the ball has no impact on the puzzle just like the game lolol. I was dying laughing

@PinkNickels I was born and raised in NY State, but as the long and winding road inevitably takes us places, I am now in Wisconsin. Saw "my" Packers and Bills go down in flames in consecutive weeks. I also follow the Jets and Giants. Funny story there is I lucked into 4 playoff tickets to see my Giants beat the Packers in Green Bay in 2012, and my family was wearing mixed clothing from both teams. lol

@PinkNickels No betting on games for me. Another connection, though: My brother lives in the Rochester area. -Will Power

Totally understand. I was born in CO, moved to AZ, then WA, then NY (upstate, Whitesboro), then CA, then NY, then NH then CO for HS and College. I had mixed feelings about that game (now in NC). I lived in NY when the Bills lost SBs (usually to Dallas). It was a great game at least.

Good puzzle but as a neutral, didn't complete the catch imo

@cornish-john Thanks for playing and commenting. Whether you follow American Football or not, consider the "Fail Mary" play, in 2012, (can be seen on YouTube) where the ball is seated in the defender's hands, against his chest, and the receiver is reaching around the defender, touching the ball (barely), and the receiver was credited with the catch, creating the precedent of the exact opposite of what happened this week. Peace to you.-Will Power
