Twice What?

(Eingestellt am 28. November 2025, 11:40 Uhr von wuc)

From time to time I mess a cool puzzle up by not seeing a dead pattern (as remarked in the comments). Sorry for this. The current version should be unique. Have fun and leave a comment.

Rules:

Standard sudoku rules apply.

Polar Doublers: 9 cells in the grid are doublers, one per row, column, and 3x3 box, each containing a different digit. The VALUE of a doubler cell is either double the digit in that cell or minus double the digit in that cell (e.g. a digit 6 in a doubler cell can have a value of 12 or -12).

Region Sum Lines: Box borders divide each blue line into segments with the same sum of VALUES.

Digits in cages cannot repeat in a cage. VALUES must sum number shown in the upper left corner of the cage.

Digits in cells separated by a white dot are consecutive

Lösungscode: DIGITS in doubler cells, top to bottom.

Changed wording on cages. Sorry for the troubles.

correct wording of the cage rule is
"DIGITS in cages cannot repeat.
VALUES in cages sum to the small clue."

Lovely puzzle with the latest adjustment.

Finally a unique solution sorry.

The new constraint still leaves a deadly pattern. While it makes 3 more of the cells resolve uniquely, the remaining 12 can resolve in two ways.

Added a constraint for it to be unique. Sorry for the trouble, thx for pointing to it. Crazy how I did not see that in several test runs.

I'm almost at the end of the puzzle (I've been enjoying it quite a bit) but I can't see how this resolves uniquely. As far as I can tell, there are 3 solutions right now. Is there perhaps a missing clue?

Yeah, 3 solutions. Maybe you could add a clue to disambiguate.

Same situation as other folks; 3 possible solutions (one branch that fully resolves; one that leads to an x-wing, both valid under the rules).

Up to that point, a quite enjoyable puzzle.

No unique solution, I found two. Thus, not very nice from a satisfaction point of view. Nice idea.

The puzzle is very nice, but it has 3 solutions... Luckily, the solution code is the same for all of them

Got stuck on the sum line in Box 4 into box 5 for quite a while. Dead Pattern at the end. But always awesome to look at a puzzle full of cursed cages ;) i'd say 2 stars at least.

Very fun puzzle, however there are multiple (3) solutions.

Neat idea, but the solution is not unique.
