Consecutive Territories

(Published on 23. November 2025, 03:31 by masetab)

As far as I am aware this is an original rule set. I hope you enjoy!
Play the sudoku here:

Rules:

  1. Standard Sudoku Rules
Fill the grid with digits 1–9 so that each appears exactly once in every row, column. Also no digit should repeat within a region.

  2. Region-Building Rules
Construct regions made of orthogonally connected cells such that each region contains exactly one circle. Every cell belongs to a region. The number inside the circle gives the size of its region. Each region must contain a consecutive set of digits (e.g., {2,3,4}, {1}, {4,5,6,7,8,9}), in any order.

  3. Black Kropki Dots
A black dot between two cells indicates the digits are in a 1:2 ratio. The two cells must belong to the same region. Not all such dots are given.

  4. White Kropki Dots
A white dot between two cells indicates the digits are consecutive. The two cells must belong to the same region. Not all possible white dots are given.

  5. Little Killer Sum
Clues outside the grid, indicated by arrows, show the sum of the digits along the diagonal path of the arrow.

I will admit, all of the cryptic references in the comments here about "understanding the implications of the rules" definitely helped me along when I first got stuck, but the logic is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful puzzle and so fun.

This puzzle is as brilliant as it is insane! Very fresh and original ruleset. It took me a while to realize how on earth this could resolve at all. Afterwards it was just as hard as it gets with impeccable attention to detail and absolutely stunning eliminations, resisting just until the very end. Amazing job masetab! I had hours of joy, although I personally found it quite very hard.

Puzzles like this are why I enjoy unconventional rulesets.
