This was set for Scojo's Setting Saturday prompts. The prompt was to create a puzzle using Monstrifier cells, a monster based modifier!

I chose to create two puzzles based on a ruleset around the Headless Horseman from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow! You can find the easier prequel to this puzzle here.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is an American folk story written in 1820 that was excellently animated by Disney in 1949. It is worth checking out if you have never seen it!

Rules:

• Normal sudoku rules apply.

• Values in a cage sum to the indicated total. Digits and values may repeat within a cage.

• Values along a purple renban form a collection of non-repeating, consecutive values arranged in any order.

• Headless Horseman Cells
  • Place nine Horseman cells so there's exactly one in each row, column and box.
  • Digits within Horseman cells may not repeat.
  • Cells containing a 🌉 (bridge) are not Horseman cells.
  • Two Horseman cells must not be a chess knight's move apart. A Horseman cell and a bridge cell must also not be a knight's move apart.
  • Horseman cells have a value of 0.
  • The values of all cells a chess knight's move away from a Horseman cell are increased by the digit in that Horseman cell.
• Full Rank:
  • The values on columns and rows, read in both directions, make a total of 36 numbers of 8 to 17 digits.
  • Clues outside the grid show the rank for the indicated row/column among those 36 numbers, where the lowest is 1 and the highest is 36.
  • Rows and columns may contain cells with double-digit values. For right to left and bottom to top ranks, double digit numbers are read in reverse.
  • Ranks may have leading 0s.
  • There are no ties in rank.
