Rules:
Normal Sudoku rules apply. Place the digits 1–9 once in every row, column, and 3×3 box.
Knights: Cells separated by a knight's move (in chess) cannot contain the same digit.
Killer: In cages, digits must sum to the small clue in the top left corner of the cage. Digits cannot repeat within a cage.
Inequality: Inequality signs between two cells point towards the smaller digit.
German Whisper: Adjacent values on a green line have a difference of at least 5.

Joke complaint: Sudokupad didn't accept the unique solution I got from reading the inequality the wrong way around! Outrageous!!!

Fun puzzle, and my first time leaving a comment. This one took me an hour just to break into it because I kept forgetting constraints. I made a mistake at some point and started over when I realized I wasn't considering the knights move. Then when I restarted, keeping in mind the knights move... and then I somehow forgot to consider the cages in the corners [facepalm] my coloring was hiding them, and I kept trying to remember how I had worked out which numbers should be in the cages... oh yeah, they're cages!

Rating the puzzle in this case is really difficult. Knowing all the stuff you need it is more like a 1 star puzzle. Not knowing it, most people probably can't solve it.

@VitP I totally agree with you, I don't believe this is a 2 star puzzle. However, I believe the 2 star rating is created by the people who solve the puzzle and give it a rating? I'm not sure but I think it's more of a 4 especially for non experts. Did you enjoy the puzzle?

I was initially frustrated because the V didn't add up to 5 (couldn't be 2/3 nor 4/1) . While searching for the mistake, I realized that I should read the instructions more carefully. Very nice puzzle.

one thing you might want to do is start by recognizing that the number of non-expert sudoku fans vastly outnumbers the experts. despite the fact that this is an elite site, you should not be excluding them. and calling an "experts only" puzzle a level 2 DOES exclude non-experts.
nothing wrong with hard puzzles. just call a spade a spade

very nice. i really don't know how to score puzzles like this, i give them 3 star difficulty just for the required knowledge but i blitzed through it in 20, i imagine someone like Simon would take 15 minutes to talk about bags of digits and then 5 minutes to solve it :) i just emailed CTC when i was proud of my puzzle and it got featured, the bar for being recommended by others is very likely much higher. i think what you want to do is, compared to this puzzle, ramp up the difficulty without losing too much of the elegance
