Very nice puzzle! Without spoilers: my method of approaching this puzzle, which is probably the intended way, resulted in that I did not even have to check most of the little killer totals in the end. Thank you
--Yes that sounds right. When I solve it there is math first, some coloring next, and then everything unfolds.
