X*X Lines

(Published on 7. September 2025, 15:40 by RockyRoer)

The Rules:

  1. [Sudoku] Normal sudoku rules apply - fill every row, column, and 3x3 region with the digits 1-9 once each.
  2. [Region Sum Products] Along a green colored line, the sum of the digits in one region TIMES the sum of the digits in a different region must always equal 100. Digits may repeat on lines if sudoku rules allow.
    • For example, if R3C1 = 4 then R4C1, R4C2, and R4C3 must sum to 25 because 4*25 = 100.

The Puzzle:

Try it using Sven's Sudokupad

Challenge to super solvers: Is it possible to derive the value of 100 if I had just told you that all lines multiply to the same value? (I'm not sure it is, but I'm not a super solver!)

Challenge to super setters: Make a puzzle where the value of "100" must be determined -- feel free to use a different value if that's easier.

Solution code: Row 7

Funny and (for a RR-puzzle) quite easy puzzle. In order to derive the constant only one idea came into my mind: you might check the possible partitions of 45 in box 6 (and/or box 4), but that may need a small computer-program? Anyway, thank you very much for creating and sharing this lovely puzzle.
