Chaos construction: Divide the grid into 6 orthogonally connected regions. Place the digits 1–6 once in every row, column, and region.
Broken thermometer: The large thermometer is broken into segments by region borders. Each segment acts as a normal (working) thermometer (i.e., the digits strictly increase as they move away from the bulb of the large thermometer). Moreover, all these segments have the same sum.
(NB The large “thermometer” is effectively a region sum line, with digits ordered ascendingly within each segment.)
XV: The two digits separated by a “V” must sum to 5.
