MasyuPop (Masyu/Lollipops)

(Published on 30. August 2025, 19:26 by Nell Gwyn)

  • Lollipops: Draw several lollipops into the grid. A lollipop is a 1x2 shape consisting of a circle (black or white) and a connected horizontal or vertical line (or "stick").
    • Two cells with the same lollipop symbol (circle, horizontal stick, or vertical stick) can only share a row or column if there is a different symbol beteween them to block the view (black circles and white circles are considered the same symbol for this rule).
    • Cells from different lollipops cannot be orthogonally adjacent to each other, regardless of symbol.
    • Some parts of Lollipops are already given.
  • Masyu: Draw a single closed loop between the centers of some cells. The loop moves orthogonally and does not branch or cross itself.
    • The loop must visit every Lollipop circle, and cannot visit any cell with a Lollipop stick (regardless of whether the Lollipop parts are given, or placed by the solver).
    • On a black Lollipop circle, the loop must make a turn, and travel straight through both of the adjoining cells. On a white Lollipop circle, the loop must go straight, and make a turn in at least one of the adjoining cells (it may turn in both, but does not need to turn in both).
  • Penpa link (main puzzle)

    Penpa link (7x7 example puzzle)

Solution code: For each row from top to bottom, give the number of horizontal loop cells in that row (meaning, the number of cells where the loop crosses both vertical borders of the cell). For the 7x7 example puzzle, the code would be 2010203.
