The penrose steps are an optical illusion of a never ending staircase. Thought I would create a sudoku that is loosely based on the illusion. Thanks to all the testers and hope you enjoy!
Puzzle: The Penrose Steps
Rules:
Normal 9x9 Sudoku rules apply.
Penrose Lines: On a pink line, a sequence of increasing digits repeats from the bulb end. The sequence must fully complete and repeat at least once. For example, along a penrose line, digits could read: 137137137.
Lösungscode: Row 1, left to right, 9 digits no spaces:

Beautiful coloring exercise, once I convinced myself I understood the rules properly. Thanks for setting!

I'm not quite sure what the rule "The sequence must fully complete" actually means. Does it always have to appear in a complete form? Or would, say, 913913913 be valid?
I don't think so, but just double checking.

It just means that a valid repeated sequence needs to read 137137137, not 13713713, as the "137" did not fully complete its repeat. You're example 913913913 would not be valid as the sequence "913" is not an increasing sequence. Hope this answers your question? --Fenners
Got it. That's what I assumed and got the puzzle done. Really quite fun to solve as you jump around the grid trying to find where the next number is restricted. -Snaques
