Faux-Phistomefel

(Published on 10. August 2025, 18:25 by LJ Jamie)

1. Normal Sudoku rules apply

2. Digits along green German Whisper lines must differ by at least 5

3. White lines (all on top of German Whispers) are modular lines: each number alternates between an element from {147}, {258}, and {369}

The title is because I designed the puzzle with the Phistomefel Ring in mind, but it can be solved without it as well so it's "faux"

Here is the SudokuPad link!

when basic techniques allow you to solve a problem easily, then applying advanced techniques is at best a distraction

Your definition of the white lines, in addition to being named differently between the SudokuPad page and this one, is incomplete. Saying the digits alternate between the sets just means that adjacent digits must be from different sets, so 181 would be a valid white line. I think it would be better to say something like this:

Consecutive digits along a white line must cycle through the sets {147},{258},{369}.

The description I've seen the most is: Any three adjacent cells along a white line must contain one digit from each of the sets {147},{258},{369}. A 2-cell line must contain digits from two different sets.

The rules here say modular. The rules on CTC say entropic.
