Anti-Arrow III

(Published on 15. August 2025, 12:33 by Andrewsarchus)

About:

This is the final boss of the Anti-Arrow puzzles. It is highly recommended that you solve the previous two puzzles to acquire some valuable meta-knowledge about this ruleset before trying this puzzle.

Rules:

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Although, no actual arrows appear in this puzzle, it is necessary to define what is meant by a valid arrow, as the anti-arrow constraint will forbid them from being possible in certain locations, and the associated negative constraint will demand that they are possible in all other locations.

In a standard Arrow Sudoku, the bulb contains the sum of digits along an arrow which is connected to the bulb. Arrow paths can move orthogonally or diagonally and can contain repeated digits when allowed by other rules. In this puzzle, we add the stipulation that a valid arrow visits any cell at most once.

Anti-Arrow:
In this puzzle, circles mark cells where it is not possible to place a valid arrow bulb in the solved grid.
For example, if the digit contained within the circle is a 6, then no possible arrow starting from that cell can sum to 6.

All such circles are shown. (Note the negative constraint: if a digit is un-circled, it must be possible to place an arrow bulb in that location, and attach an arrow which sums to that digit).
