Dutch Flat Mates: Coordinate Arrows (palpot collab)

(Eingestellt am 16. Juli 2025, 11:30 Uhr von Flinty)

100th Puzzle? Sort of? Maybe?
This is the first time I've ticked over to #100 published puzzles on LMD. I've made puzzles that haven't been published on LMD, and I've deactivated two puzzles that were previously published on LMD back when I started:
- One was very similar to another puzzle released on the same day, and to be honest neither were particularly good (naming no names).
- One was an S-Cells Puzzle that had a ridiculous S-Cell option in the mid solve that was initially missed by myself and the testers and therefore wasn't logically solvable, although it was unique.

I considered deactivating more puzzles to coincide my 100th LMD puzzle with the 100th Flat Mate, but it feels too forced, so I'm choosing to age/release naturally. For those keeping count, this is Flat Mate #92. It's also nice that I get to share my milestone with palpot, with whom I've made quite a few puzzles now.

Previous Dutch Flat Mate Puzzles
This has been a weekly series since '18 Oct 23'. Here is a spreadsheet link for all the previous puzzles in the series, which also has a few teasers for upcoming constraints/guest setters in the series (subject to change).

This alternative link offers a limited LMD search for Dutch Flat Mates.

Initial Setter Difficulty: 2.5-3 / 5

Normal Sudoku rules apply
Place the digits 1-9 so that they do not repeat in any row, column, or 3x3 box.

Dutch Flats
Every 5 in the grid must have a '1' directly above it or a '9' directly below it. It may have both, but it doesn't need both.

Coordinate Arrows
Digits on an arrow spell out the coordinates for the digit that is their sum. The row number is written on the start of the arrow, the column number is written on the arrow tip. All the arrows must correspond to different coordinates. Digits may repeat on an arrow if allowed by other rules.
Example: 1→4 then R1C4 must be a 5 (1+4)

Hint to start

The 2 digits on an arrow cannot index a cell larger than 9 and 9s can never appear on an arrow. Some find it useful to make a note of the cells that can be indexed using colours/pencilmarks. Box 8 and Flat Mates are the break in.

Special Thanks
Using 'Coordinate Arrows' in a puzzle was a recent prompt on Scojo's Twitch/Discord, and palpot (whose pot?) kindly suggested we could collab on a Dutch Flat Mates version.

Next week we welcome the return of the guest setter Black_Doom, who has misplaced the numbers to his dorm rooms, can you help him?
